Scotty McCreery’s ‘It Matters to Her’ Becomes a Top 20 Hit

Scotty McCreery is on his way to having another No. 1 hit. After five consecutive chart-topping hits, beginning with his 2017 single, “Five More Minutes,” and including his most recent multi-week, No. 1 single, “Damn Strait,” the American Idol alum’s current single, “It Matters To Her,” is officially in the Top 20, and still climbing.

The song is from McCreery’s 2021  Same Truck album, and was written by McCreery, along with Lee Thomas Miller and Rhett Akins, “It Matters To Her” was inspired by his wife, Gabi, along with his love of Brooks & Dunn, and their music.

“I think that just kind of randomly happened as far as the nod to Brooks and Dunn, just because I grew up listening to ‘Red Dirt Road’ and ‘Neon Moon’ and all of them,” McCreery explained during a media event last year. “‘I Believe.’ Good gracious. It was kind of the soundtrack to my life growing up, so it makes sense where that influence would come through in this kind of song.”

It’s fitting that McCreery has a hit inspired by Brooks & Dunn, since he will spend time with them on the road later this year. The 29-year-old will join the iconic duo on their REBOOT 2023 Tour, kicking off on Thursday, May 4 in Kansas City, Missouri, and wrapping up on June 17 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

“Having been a huge fan of their music all my life, going out on the road with Kix and Ronnie is a dream come true for me,” McCreery said of joining Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn on the road. “I can’t wait for this tour to begin!”

McCreery is currently on his own headlining  Damn Strait Tour, where he will soon be joined by his son, Avery, who was born in October. McCreery, who was joined by his son for a show in Knoxville earlier this month, reveals that Avery and Gabi, will be on the road with him for at least part of his tour.

“Next year we’re gonna bring out a baby bus, so we’ll get him out there,” McCreery told Everything Nash late last year. “Gabi will be out there a lot with me too, so he’ll have his own little crib and everything. It’ll be a completely different way to do the road for me. I’ve been doing it now over ten years. I’ve got my system, so this is gonna throw that for a loop, but I can’t wait. It’s gonna be awesome.”

McCreery will perform at the Grand Ole Opry on Valentine’s Day, and again on March 9. His Damn Strait Tour continues on March 10 in Grant, Oklahoma. Find music and tour dates at ScottyMcCreery.com.
