Sheryl Crow will perform at the Grand Ole Opry later this month, but it won’t be with her own music. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee will join alternative country band Rusty Truck for their Grand Ole Opry debut on February 28.
The group’s lead singer, Mark Seliger, is also an acclaimed photographer, taking plenty of pictures of Crow throughout her career, including her famed Rolling Stone cover in 1996, as well as the album artwork for Crow’s Be Myself record, released in 2017. Crow appears with Rusty Truck on their current single, “Find My Way,” out now.
“What a thrill and honor it was for me to sing and collaborate on my dear friend Mark’s song ‘Find My Way,’” says Crow. “I have known Mark going on 30 years. Not only is he one of the most gifted photographers of our generation but his love and passion for songwriting and performing are proving to be equally as brilliant.”
“Rarely do I get to work with such a talented artist like Sheryl,” adds Seliger. “Our portraits together started in the ’90s during the Tuesday Night Music Club through Be Myself and then some. She generously played and sang on ‘Cold Ground’ from Rusty Truck’s first record and most recently ‘Find My Way’ and ‘Corner of Life’ on the new album. Her voice is magical and she carves the lonely into lonesome. I can’t remember them now without her.”
Crow is nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame along with Willie Nelson, Missy Elliott, the White Stripes, the late George Michael, Cyndi Lauper, the late Warren Zevon, and a combined entry for Joy Division and its spinoff, New Order.
In addition, Kate Bush, Iron Maiden, Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, the Spinners and A Tribe Called Quest, all received return nominations again, after being previously nominated, but not inducted, in the past.
