The Grand Ole Opry is continuing to modify its reopening plans. Although they had previously hinted that shows in September could possibly have at least a limited live audience, the latest update states that shows will continue to be live-streamed only, at least through September.
“To align with Metro Nashville health and safety guidelines amid current COVID-19 concerns, the Grand Ole Opry will only broadcast and livestream the Saturday, September 12, 19 and 26 performances,” the Opry announced. “It will not be possible to have an in-house audience for these shows.”
While an official announcement about the remainder of 2020 has yet to be made, there does still seem to be the possibility of live shows for part of the year.
“While we are unsure when ticketed shows will return, tickets for shows between October and December are still on sale. We continue to hope these shows will take place as planned,” the statement continued.
Steve recently spoke out about Garth Brooks’ announcement that he was withdrawing his name from consideration for the Entertainer of the Year award, insisting that Garth still deserved to be included in the list of nominees.
“If you’ve ever seen Garth Brooks live, you know why he consistently wins entertainer of the year. There is no one as big as Garth, but more importantly there is no one as kind,” Steve shared on social media. “I have been fortunate enough to call Garth a close friend for years, and I know who he is off stage as well; one of the kindest people on the entire planet. Garth; you are not just entertainer of the year, you are a legend forever, and you really earned it. This is a shame!”
Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will take the Opry stage together on Saturday, September 5. Information on how to watch the Grand Ole Opry shows can be found at Opry.com.
