Jeremy Greene has already achieved far more than most people ever dream of accomplishing. The tech CEO, who launched the successful app, Mojichat, grew up singing, using it as an escape from his troubled childhood, which included time in foster care and a terrifying residential group home. Jeremy managed to rise above it all and create a series of successful companies, including Mojichat, but his heart has always been in music.
It was Jeremy who had the idea to host a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club, challenging Rascal Flatts‘ lead singer Gary LeVox to a sing-off. The two sang “Bless the Broken Road,” and Jeremy walked away with not only proving his vocal chops, but a brand-new career as well.
“I knew I could sing, but I knew I should be doing country,” Jeremy told Everything Nash. “Gary goes, ‘Hey man, if you’re doing anything besides country music right now, you are not paying attention. That’s all you need to do.’ He’s like, ‘Let’s do it together.’ So we started moving. Within a few days, we did ‘My Way.’ It was super autobiographical, and just started going crazy everywhere. And Gary was like, ‘You’re my new artist. Let’s rock and roll.’
“Now all of a sudden it’s happening,” he added. “It’s now getting picked up on Spotify. I suspect it’s going to start getting on bigger outlets. It’s just amazing.”
Jeremy is so focused on his music, he is relocating to Nashville, and taking a step away from his successful business ventures.
“I’m going all in,” Jeremy vowed. “I’m focusing just on music right now. My partners are taking over the company. They’re people I’ve trained really, really well. I’m obviously going to be there to help support. There are people who are trying to acquire the company, which I can’t talk too much about, but I’m all in. I’m going for it. When do you actually get an opportunity like this ever?”
Jeremy acknowledges he may not have had the courage to pursue his dreams, especially now, if not for his adoring wife.
“She’s the greatest, most supportive person in my entire life and I would not be where I am [without her],” Jeremy gushed. “She’s the President of my company. So I wouldn’t be where I am today without my wife. She keeps me so focused. There are ten million things I want to do, and she’s like, ‘Babe, you got to focus on this, but you can do this … What she’s given me is like unconditional love that I never felt as a child.”
Jeremy is working with renowned producer Dann Huff, as well as Gary, who vows to stay involved with Jeremy’s career.
“He said to me, ‘I have a jet. I’m picking you and your wife up, so you can come out here and start rocking and rolling,” Jeremy said of Gary. “So pretty quickly, I’m going to come out there and really get to know the team … You gotta pay your dues and really get to know that town. I’m kind of treating myself as if I’m not a successful business person at all. I want to feel that hunger of that starving artist constantly. I want to be respected. I want people to be like, ‘He really cares about our culture. He’s just not going, ‘Hey man, I’m singing country music.’ I grew up around this stuff, right. This is in my soul.”
