The Bellamy Brothers Drop ‘Forever Ain’t Long Enough’ With Gene Watson [EXCLUSIVE]

The Bellamy Brothers have a new song out, and it’s with another country music icon. The sibling duo, made up of Howard and David Bellamy, just released “Forever Ain’t Long Enough,” a collaboration with Gene Watson.

“We thought this song would fit him well,” David explains to Everything Nash.

“Forever Ain’t Long Enough,” written by David, originally appeared on the Bellamy Brothers’ 1990 Reality Check album, but was never released as a single.

“This song was actually a song that we recorded way back,” Howard shares. “You can release songs, and sometimes you would release a song that would just go gangbusters on the charts, and you’re like, ‘Wow, I didn’t expect that out of that song.’ But this song is just a solid song. And I was a little disappointed and kind of ticked off that it was never released — for some reason, at that time period, our label would not release country songs on us, stone country songs.”

Now on their own label, the brothers decided it was time to release the song again, this time joined by Watson.

“We were doing records at that time,” David remarks. “We had ‘Redneck Girl’ out, and we had ‘Old Hippie,’ and stuff like that. I think the label saw us doing songs more like that than coming with a stone country release, which we always loved the song.”

With the new version now available, the Bellamy Brothers are thrilled with the way it turned out, especially with the addition of Watson.

“Gene does such a great job,” David boasts. “He’s such a fabulous singer.”

“You see a lot of the entertainers that you don’t see very much,” Howard says of why they love the Country Music Cruise. “Occasionally you’ll cross paths on the road. But you’re on there for a few days, and you get to visit more with them than you normally would. It’s time together with friends and fans.”

“On the cruise, no matter what you are, if you’re out and about and social, or anti-social, you’re gonna be kind of social on there, because you can’t help it,” David adds. “It’s the nature of it. Everybody has such a good time; nobody really bothers you. The people that do stop you and talk to you, it’s just really good-hearted country fans.”

The 2025 Country Music Cruise will depart from Fort Lauderdale on January 19, and head to Key West, Cozumel and Costa Maya, returning on January 26.
