It’s been almost 50 years since the Bellamy Brothers released “Let Your Love Flow” in 1976, but the song has remained surprisingly popular in the last five decades. Now, Howard and David Bellamy reveal the song is being used by Budweiser for a Super Bowl commercial.
“It’s probably as big of a surprise to us as it was to you,” David jokes to Everything Nash, while on the Country Music Cruise. “They picked ‘Let Your Love Flow’ to use on there. They’re doing kind of a retro commercial about it, using colts that were born, Clydesdales. And they’re bringing back their old slogan, ‘This Bud’s for You.'”
When the news was announced, the Bellamy Brothers shared their excitement over having “Let Your Love Flow” being used for one of the biggest — and most-watched — sporting events in the world.
“We are so proud to have our hit song ‘Let Your Love Flow’ featured in the new Budweiser Super Bowl Ad,” they said in a statement. “Such a beautiful video. The Clydesdales are simply awesome,”
“Let Your Love Flow” is one of several songs that the Bellamy Brothers perform every time they take the stage. The award-winning duo has decades of hits to their credit, including “If I Said You Have a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me,” “Redneck Girl,” “Sugar Daddy,” “Lovers Live Longer” and more. It’s songs that the Bellamy Brothers have sung for decades, but fortunately still enjoy performing.
“There’s a different audience every time, hopefully, ” Howard acknowledges. “It’s new to them. When it’s fresh to them, their reaction always brings you around. Your adrenaline kicks in gear.”
“And luckily, we’ve got some songs that we like. Some of them we’re not crazy about,” he adds with a laugh. “But most of them we like.”
The Bellamy Brothers hint they have “lots of touring 2025.” The duo marks their 50th anniversary later this year, although they admit that their tours look a bit different than they did in the earlier years of their career.
“Our touring nowadays is much different than the old days,” David says. “Some of those early tours in Europe, we didn’t sleep for months at a time. Nowadays, we still get our rest. We go to our bunks after the show and watch TV, catch a movie or something. It’s mellow now.”
Speaking of TV, the Bellamy Brothers also star in their own reality TV show, Honky Tonk Ranch. It’s an unexpected success, showing off a different side of them than what fans see in a live show.
“We’re just starting to shoot our fifth season on that,” David says. “It’s been an unusual adventure.”
“We love and hate it … We’ve done everything,” he adds. “We’ve bubble-wrapped a jackass on there.”
