The Grand Ole Opry Makes New Announcement About July Shows

Fans of the Grand Ole Opry will have to wait just a little bit longer to enjoy a live show in the venue. After announcing that they would reopen for live shows in July, and then revising that statement to say they would wait until the opening could “align with the reopening guidelines of Nashville,” the Opry just announced that they will not have an audience for at least the first two weeks in July.

“To align with Metro Nashville health and safety guidelines amid current COVID-19 concerns, the Grand Ole Opry has canceled performances that include a live audience on July 4 and July 11,” a statement reads on the Grand Ole Opry’s website.

“While we are unsure when ticketed shows will return, presently tickets are on sale for shows starting with July 18,” the statement continued. “We continue to be hopeful these shows will take place as planned.”

When the Grand Ole Opry does open for a live audience, it will just be for Saturday night shows at first, before adding any events during the week.

The Opry has been continuing their Saturday shows with numerous guests, in spite of the empty venue, including Luke Combs, Craig Morgan, Keith Urban, Lady A, Steve Wariner, and Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood.

“To everyone at home, stay strong. You have flattened this curve so well. Don’t quit before it’s over,” Garth said from the Opry stage, adding, “It’s cool too, ’cause country music, we’re always a family anyway, but this has made us stronger. And if there’s a blessing in the curse, it’s that we come out of this better as one, than we went in.”

This week, on June 20, Darius Rucker and Clint Black will perform together. On June 27, Jimmy Buffett will make his Opry debut, playing alongside Brad Paisley and Mac MacAnally. Artists performing in July have yet to be announced.

Although the Opry is currently not allowing a live audience, there are still plenty of ways to watch from home. Get more information at Opry.com.
