The Henry: Nashville’s New Restaurant the City Didn’t Know It Needed

The Henry is the new restaurant Nashville didn’t know it needed, but it did. Located at  2803 12th Ave South, #105, The Henry offers craft cocktails, unique sushi rolls, tantalizing appetizers, numerous entree options, housemade desserts, plus service that is unmatched anywhere in Nashville.

In addition to a very impressive wine and spirits list, among the largest we’ve seen anywhere in Nashville — and we’ve seen a lot — The Henry also offers a wide variety of craft cocktails, unique to their trendy restaurant. We had The Spicy, made with tequila blanco, cointreau, jalapeño spiced agave (made in-house), and tart lime, and the Southern City Mischief, made with Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon, loose leaf chai, orange marmalade, Madagascar vanilla and pressed Lemonilla gelato.

During our recent visit — likely the first of many — we started with the Rainbow Roll, made with lump crab, ahi tuna, yellowtail, salmon, avocado and lemon oil, and at the (wise) suggestion of one of the servers, the Spicy Tune & Crispy Rice Roll, with fresno chile, avocado, cilantro, scallion and sweet soy.

We also had, at the suggestion of our own server, the Short Rib Potstickers, filled with melt-in-your-mouth meat and covered with a sauce good enough to eat with a spoon.

Although there were plenty of amazing entrees to choose from, one of our entrees was the Sea Scallops — meaty, tender scallops on a bed of parsnip crème fraîche, served with roasted squash, brussels sprout, mushroom preserve and pine nut gremolata. We also had the surprisingly tender Braised Short Rib, a meat lover’s dream, served with bourbon caramel, roasted mushroom, fourme d’ambert and smashed potatoes.

At yet another suggestion (it was refreshing to see how all of the servers were so passionate about the food at The Henry), we capped off the unforgettable meal with The Henry’s Molten Butter Cake, a moist angel food cake, topped with caramel tableside, and served with warm caramel, pretzel toffee, andvanilla gelato.

Besides the amazing food, and exceptional service, what makes The Henry stand out is their breakfast and lunch menu during the week. In a city that caters to evening diners, The Henry offers breakfast and lunch, Monday to Friday, plus homemade items available to eat on the go.

The breakfast menu, offered from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM during the week, includes options like a Greek Yogurt Parfait, Henry’s Irish Oats, a Quinoa Burrito Bowl and more, plus a coffee bar. Lunch items include Truffled Brie Toast, Chicken Tortilla Soup, a Sprouts & Squash Salad, a Roasted Turkey French Dip, and plenty of other options. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday, with regular breakfast and lunch items, plus unique items like Huevos Rancheros Enchiladas, Cinnamon Swirl French Toast, and so much more.

An even better reason to go, as plenty of restaurants cater only to adult patrons, The Henry proudly offers a children’s menu any time of day or night. If it seems to good to be true, one dining experience at The Henry will see why the bar is set higher for every other restaurant in Nashville.
