The Isaacs have been performing for literally decades, but they got to experience a career first last year, when they were invited to join Reba McEntire on her Reba: Live in Concert Arena Tour.
The Isaacs have had plenty of performance opportunities, thanks to their own popularity, and their frequent appearances as part of the Gaither Homecoming series, but to be able to open for the country music icon was a life-changing opportunity they are still trying to wrap their heads around.
“There are no words,” Sonya Isaacs tells Everything Nash. “From the beginning of the tour to the last day, how they treated us, the respect that her band and staff and Reba herself and Rex [Linn] and Terri Clark, all of the people on the tour showed us was just mind-blowing. They were very supportive. There was no competition out there, like you might think there would be.”
“We weren’t treated like the new kids on the block,” Becky Isaacs added.
The family group, who became members of the Grand Ole Opry in 2021, still can’t believe that they were given the opportunity to open for someone as legendary as McEntire.
“It was really a dream come true,” Sonya says. “And I hope that if Reba tours again … that she’ll think of us again. That was really amazing. And let’s be honest: we were on the biggest stage of our career. Gaither stage was doing arenas too, but we were comfortable in that market, and Gaither did a lot for The Isaacs. But other than Gaither arenas, we’ve never had that opportunity in that size.”
The Isaacs will get to enjoy another career first next year, when they perform on the Country Music Cruise, part of an incredible lineup that includes John Michael Montgomery, Deana Carter, The Bellamy Brothers, Diamond Rio, Jamie O’Neal, T.G. Sheppard, Wade Hayes, Jimmy Fortune and more.
“Everybody says the Opry is a big family. It really is a big family,” Sonya Isaacs tells Everything Nash. “We’ve done a lot of cruises, we’ve sung on a lot of cruises, but we’ve never done a country music cruise with Opry people, and people that we love in that family. So we thought it would be fun to go with that family on a cruise. It’s just going to be awesome. We’re very, very excited.”
The 2025 Country Music Cruise is almost sold-out. The cruise will depart from Fort Lauderdale on January 19, and head to Key West, Cozumel and Costa Maya, returning on January 26. Use code EverythingNash for an exclusive discount. Find more information at CountryMusicCruise.com.
