The Judds will soon be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The mother-daughter duo, made up of Naomi and Wynonna Judd, will receive the star, in honor of their numerous achievements and awards, in a special ceremony at a date to be announced.
“Many years ago before moving to Nashville, we lived in Hollywood,” Naomi reflected in a statement. “It was a very hard time. I could barely pay the rent and keep food on the table for Ashley, Wynonna and myself. Walking down Hollywood Boulevard, and seeing those stars under my feet, it just never occurred to me that our names would one day be on a star with all of those famous people. It’s surreal to even imagine it now. I’m thrilled that we have been given such amazing recognition,”
“After 37 years, I still find myself amazed! What a journey it has been so far. Thankful to still be included,” added Wynonna.
The Judds enjoyed an almost unprecedented reign in country music in the ’80s and early ’90s, with 14 No. 1 hits, and more than 20 million albums sold. Their debut album, Why Not Me, released in 1984, kicked off more than 15 years of success, with sold-out tours and numerous accolades and honors. In 1991, The Judds announced that they were disbanding, after Naomi revealed she had been diagnosed with Hepatitis C.
The Judds join several other country artists who have received stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, including Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Alabama and Garth Brooks, among others.
