The Oak Ridge Boys’ celebration of Christmas begins on Wednesday, November 23. The award-winning group will enjoy a 32-show residency, The Oaks’ Christmas in Tennessee Dinner Show, as part of Opryland’s 39th annual A Country Christmas event. The Christmas in Tennessee shows conclude on December 25, 2022,
“It is such an honor to be bringing our Christmas show back to Gaylord Opryland in 2022 for the THIRD year in a row,” Joe Bonsall says. “Nobody does Christmas like Gaylord Opryland, and our dinner shows have become a part of the tradition over the last few years! We can promise this, our show will be much different than last year, but Santa will still be a part of [it], as will our big state-of-the-art production.
“And we will give each audience a strong set list of songs covering every aspect of Christmas,” he continues. “We hope you will plan to join The Oak Ridge Boys over the holidays this year for a gourmet dinner and a show that has been honed over decades of Christmas tours.”
In addition to a multi-course meal, guests will also be able to not only enjoy The Oak Ridge Boys singing holiday songs, but some of their biggest hits from their five-decade career as well.
Richard Sterban recently reflected on The Oak Ridge Boys’ history, and his 50 years with the iconic group, leaving Elvis Presley to join The Oak Ridge Boys.
“Sometimes you wonder; you look back over your life and you wonder where has all the time gone,” Sterban said to Everything Nash. “But, it was kind of an interesting thing in 1972. I was singing in a group called J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet. And I was actually singing with the King of Rock and Roll, the biggest star in the world back then, Elvis, and that was a very special time. It really was. I have some great memories of the times I spent with Elvis. I got to know him just a little bit. And now that many years have passed and I look back on that. I’m so glad I was able to experience that.”
The Oak Ridge Boys have been steadily making music for 50 years, but they aren’t planning on slowing down anytime soon.
“It’s hard to believe that 50 years have passed,” Sterban concedes. “Over the last 50 years, so many great things have not just happened to me personally, but all four of The Oak Ridge Boys. We’ve been very fortunate. We’ve been very blessed. We’ve had such a great career. And the good thing about it is it’s not over yet. We still have plans for the future. And we plan to go in the studio next year and work on a new project with Dave Cobb. So we’re excited about that as well.”
The Oak Ridge Boys will be part of the 2023 Country Music Cruise, which departs Ft. Lauderdale on the Nieuw Amsterdam on Sunday, January 22, and will make stops in St. Maarten and San Juan before returning to Florida on January 29.
