The Swon Brothers’ Zach Swon Is Getting Married: ‘Time to Turn Myself In’ [EXCLUSIVE]

The Swon Brothers‘ Zach Swon is getting married! The singer revealed the news on social media, after popping the question to his now-fianceé, Carrie, during what was supposed to be his 40th birthday celebration.

“It’s time to turn myself in,” Zach jokes with Everything Nash. “I’ve run from the law as long as I can. I’m turning myself in.”

Zach knew around the one-year mark of their relationship that he was ready to settle down. After finding success with his brother Colton on Season 4 of The Voice in 2013, Zach found something different with his future wife.

“Every girl I’ve dated up until now has wanted to change something about me, or liked me for one reason.” Zach concedes. “She has never complained about me, once. And there is plenty to complain about. She lets me be me, and I can tell that she really, really loves me. She’s put up with me for two years. Most of the time I have an expiration date when it comes to relationships.

“A year into this one, we were probably having one of our worst fights that we’ve ever had, and I learned how to communicate better, which is saying a lot,” he continues. “I learned how to respond to her. After we got over that year mark … I don’t want to say she pressured me. But she was like, ‘Where is this going?’ as she should. I don’t blame her at all. Finally, one day I was like, ‘Man, she deserves it. And I don’t want to date anymore. I don’t want to go through that game, ever again.'”

The Swon Brothers just released new music, with their Imagine Cabin Sessions. The five-track project was recorded at MercyMe’s Bart Millard’s studio, after The Swon Brothers played at an event with Millard.

“We were kind of fan-girling a little bit, because we grew up singing in church and singing MercyMe songs,” Colton recalls. “He was just the nicest guy in the world. He was like, ‘You guys need to come out to the studio, and let’s write a song.’ We went out there, and we ended up just talking for four hours. We didn’t even write a song.”

But before they left, Millard offered them the chance to use his studio, an offer they immediately accepted. They returned to record Imagine Cabin Sessions, which includes the gospel song “By Now,” which Zach and Colton wrote with Billy Montana.

“We wrote that about our friend who had passed,” Colton explains. “She was the first to put a bass guitar in our hands. That’s a pretty special one to us. We were just thinking, ‘What’s she up to in Heaven? What’s she doing?’ We’re getting some pretty good responses, and people are relating to it. It’s probably not a radio single, but it means a lot to us. We’re really proud of the way that turned out.”

The Swon Brothers came in third place on The Voice, on Blake Shelton’s team. Even after all these years, they still count Shelton as a friend, and their biggest cheerleader.

“He’s been a champion,” Colton boasts. “Outside of the boost it did for our career, the friendship that we have with him now is, he’s like a brother. I really mean that. We go hunting with him. We talk. We text all the time. I can’t imagine my life without him now, just as a friend.”
