Thomas Rhett has a new album coming out this summer. The father of four will release About A Woman, his seventh studio album, on August 23. Rhett co-wrote all but one of the 14 tracks on the new record, which celebrates romantic love, inspired by his own wife, Lauren Akins.

“From top to bottom, I wanted to exude joy and fun with this project – and really just make people move,” Rhett explains. “I went into making this record with a fearless attitude, put my blinders on and my head down to try and make really fun music.”

Rhett already released “Beautiful As You” from the new record, which he said was an ode to his wife of almost 12 years.

“This is an anthem for everybody who feels like they out-kicked their coverage,” Rhett says of the feel-good track. “There was one day a couple years back when I was looking at my wife, and I was like, ‘Why in the world did you choose me?’ I get to be with someone who could easily be on the cover of a magazine, and I get to see her in all her forms – a partner, a mother, a friend, even a philanthropist.

“I just feel like I’ve got a first row seat at almost-perfection, if you will,” he adds. “And like the song says, ‘Seriously, what is somebody as amazing as you doing with somebody like me?’”

Rhett unashamedly wrote and recorded the songs on About A Woman by thinking about Akins, whom he first fell in love with while still in elementary school.

“I feel like if you were to ask me what this record is about, the answer would be it’s about one woman, my wife, and it gave me an opportunity to say ‘I love you’ in a lot of different ways,” he says.

Rhett also spoke out about the new project on social media.
