Thoughts and prayers to Thomas Rhett, who is dealing with a broken ankle. The father of four shares a video on social media, detailing the injury, which took place when he was at a Forrest Frank concert. Rhett and Frank recently released their “Nothing Else” duet.
In the video, Rhett can be seen jumping from the stands at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, to join Frank on stage. He seems to have missed a step and falls, quickly jumping back up, although he is obviously in pain. Rhett finished his performance, but is then wheeled out of the arena by his wife, Lauren Akins.
“You know, every now and then you just have to sing at a Forrest Frank concert and break your ankle in the process. I gave it my all,” he says in the video.
At least Rhett’s sense of humor is intact.
“Forrest told me to pull up and I left in a wheelchair,” Rhett quips.

Hopefully, Rhett’s injury won’t derail him for too long. He will kick off his Better in Boots Tour on June 5, which includes a performance at Boston’s Fenway Park, a dream come true for Rhett.
“Ever since I was 21 I have always dreamed of headlining a baseball stadium,” Rhett says. “I remember way early in my career playing shows in Boston. House of Blues, TD Garden, Gillette with Kenney Chesney, Fenway with Jason Aldean. You get the picture. Boston has always been sooo good to us. To be transparent.. we were planning on playing Fenway in 2020 and we all know how that panned out haha! So, since then my team and I have been working really hard to figure out when was the best time.
“Not gonna lie it’s kind of terrifying jumping from an arena or amphitheater to a baseball stadium, but YOLO!! ” he adds. “I have never been more excited about something in my career as much as I am about this.”
Rhett has been dreaming about doing something like Fenway Park for years. But soon, that dream will become a long-awaited reality.
“I kind of feel like at some point in your career, you just have to sort of just go for it,” Rhett says. “I’ve been thinking about doing a baseball stadium since 2019. And I think we even had three or four on hold for 2020. And then, you know how that went. And then we just kind of kept going, ‘Well, maybe 2021 is not the year. Well, maybe 2022 is not the year. Maybe ’23 is not the year.’
“And then finally, I think we just sat down and we were just like, ‘If we’re ever gonna try it, we should try it now,'” he adds. ” I’ve definitely got a couple more bucket list things on my career sheet, but that is definitely at the tip top of bucket list items for me to accomplish before I am old and gone one day.”
Rhett will be joined by Teddy Swims, Tucker Wetmore and The Castellows at Fenway Park. Find all of Rhett’s music and tour dates at ThomasRhett.com.
