Thomas Rhett has an iconic music group and a friend to thank for the name of his youngest daughter’s name. The “Be a Light” singer revealed the inspiration behind the name Lennon Love, sharing that both her first and middle name came from two unlikely places.
“Lennon came from John Lennon, from the Beatles,” Thomas told BMLG. “I knew I wanted some sort of musical name for our third child, and me and Lauren both loved the name Lennon. And Love – her middle name was gonna actually be Louise, but in the hospital one of her friends texted her. She was like, ‘Hey, since it’s Valentine’s Day, maybe you should name her Lennon Love.’ And it started as a joke but kind of became cemented. That’s what we kind of decided in the hospital.”
Thomas is of course, off the road and not on his Center Point Road Tour, which has been moved to 2021 due to COVID-19. Although he wishes he could be performing in front of his fans, he is soaking up every minute with his wife, Lauren, and three little girls.
“We’ve just been finding new ways to get outside,” Thomas said. “We’ll go swinging in the hammock, we’ll go walk in the woods. We’ll play in the pool, we’ll go to Chick-fil-A’s drive-through. I mean honestly, walking to the mailbox has kind of been the highlight of our days, most days. And when you have kids during this time you definitely have to figure out new ways to allow them to have fun while also kind of exercising their brain.
“To me, it’s been kind of a blessing in disguise to be able to hang out with them and get to learn them a little bit better, because on the contrary I would be on the road,” he added. “But now, I get to be at home and wake up with them, go to sleep with them, and just finding new ways to have fun with them.”
With a 4-year-old, 2-month-old and 5-month-old at home, their house is anything but quiet — not that the 30-year-old minds.
“I think me and Lauren have learned that our life is chaos right now, and it’s just a season,” Thomas told CMT‘s Cody Alan, calling his home a “chaotic mess.” “But, it’s been really cool being home with them. I mean, right now, I would be getting ready to get on a bus to go play our first show, which is really sad that we aren’t doing that. At the same time, I get to be home with my girls and get to watch them grow and get to watch them do things for the first time that I would have missed.”
Thomas is also featured on Chris Tomlin’s new album, Chris Tomlin & Friends. The Georgia native joins Chris and Florida Georgia Line on the track, “Thank You Lord.”
