Thomas Rhett’s wife, Lauren Akins, is launching a new line of handbags, and it’s all for a worthwhile cause. The mother of three just announced the launch of ABLE x Lauren Akins Collection, a limited-time collection as part of a collaboration between Lauren and the lifestyle brand, to create two unique styles of women’s bags. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Love One, a charity which currently includes Lauren on their Board of Directors, and provides necessary medical care for children living in Uganda, where Thomas and Lauren adopted their oldest child, Willa Gray.
“I’ve personally been a big fan of ABLE for years, so it was a no-brainer to design my dream bags with them,” Lauren said in a statement. “The Shoulder Tote is the ultimate mom bag, without looking like a mom bag. I wanted it to have every possible feature you might need when trying to balance life with kids, while still looking cool and put-together. The Crossbody is the one I want to carry when I don’t have my kids – it’s simple and easy, but it still has some personality.”
ABLE provides employment to disadvantaged women and communities as a means to support themselves, something Lauren is proud to stand behind.
“Both bags are handmade from super soft leather, and I love knowing that they’re creating jobs for women around the world,” Lauren shared. “Something I’ve seen firsthand from my work and travels to Uganda is the power of job creation in vulnerable communities, helping to free people from the cycle of poverty. That’s why this partnership is so special to me, because it’s another incredible way I can live a life of purpose each and every day.”
Lauren will also release her new memoir, Live in Love: Growing Together Through Life’s Changes on August 18. The book, which chronicles much of her family’s personal lives, including their adoption of Willa Gray, has already earned a hearty endorsement from Lauren’s husband.
“I don’t read books. The last book I read was Harry Potter, but this book is absolutely fantastic,” Thomas boasted. “I am biased because she’s my wife but I think it’s a really, really great read and I think it’s gonna encourage and inspire a lot of seven and eight year old girls and also inspire a lot of people a lot older than seven and eight, just to learn that your decisions have weight and your words have weight and to really think about the choices you make in life. It’s truly inspiring.”
Lauren’s bags are currently available for pre-order by visiting LiveFashionable.com. Bundle packages will also be available with the purchase of Live in Love.
