Thomas Rhett’s wife, Lauren Akins, has her hands full –– and she wouldn’t want it any other way. The 30-year-old is a proud mother to four-year-old Willa Gray, two-year-old Ada James and two-month-old Lennon Love, and is cherishing every moment of being a mother.
“They all have such different personalities that every day it is a beautiful new experience that I get to see, just from being their mom,” Lauren said on Good Morning America. “It’s crazy to me that I’ve been entrusted with these three little precious lives to raise in this world and watch them grow up.”
“Getting to love on them and having them love on me is something that I never knew my heart could feel,” she continued. “My heart melts on a daily basis with my girls … even when I feel like they’re driving me up the wall about 30 seconds later, they do something sweet that just melts me all over again.”
If anyone deserves to be celebrated on Mother’s Day, it’s Lauren, although she isn’t expecting much, especially since she is spending so much time with her husband, while they are self-isolating due to COVID-19.
“We never leave each other’s side in this house, so I don’t know that they’ve had a whole lot of room and time to prepare anything for Sunday,” Lauren said. Thankfully, what she really wants for Mother’s Day can’t be found in a store anyway, since her dream day would just be spending time outside with her family.
“It’s been a little nutty around the house with the baby,” she added. “One way or another, I know I’ll feel celebrated.”
For now, Lauren is soaking up her time with her three daughters, even if it isn’t always easy.
“Everyone says how much you love your children and how much joy your kids bring, but until you experience it…it’s like something I can’t get enough of,” Lauren noted. “Even as exhausted as I am every day — there is no amount of exhaustion that could keep me from waking up to get to spend time with my girls.”
Thomas previously praised Lauren for excelling in her role as a mother, revealing at least one way she helped him to be a better parent as well.
“She’s definitely calmer than I am,” Thomas boasted. “I kind of get anxious a lot with our kids, like, ‘Is this okay that they’re doing this?’ And Lauren’s just like, ‘Honey, she is two. She is fine.’ But I think that’s just kind of like the perfectionist in me just wanting to make sure I’m doing everything right. She’s a very good, laidback mother.”
Lauren’s memoir, Live in Love: Growing Together Through Life’s Changes will be released on August 18. It is currently available for pre-order at Amazon.
