Tim McGraw doesn’t mind being in self-isolation with his wife, Faith Hill, during the coronavirus pandemic, although it might require him to soon buy a bigger size of jeans. The Louisiana native reveals that he and Faith are spending their time at home doing one of their favorite things: cooking their favorite comfort foods together.
“Faith will cook — we grew up in the South — fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy … We’ve been having a lot of that kind of stuff,” Tim revealed on Extra.
Tim and Faith are still making sure to have date nights, even while at home, but those nights are much like any other night, with or without the threat of COVID-19.
“Our date nights are really just cooking something at home and watching a movie,” Tim noted. “We’re notorious for being hermits and not getting out much.”
Thankfully, the couple at least share cooking duties, even if their favorite foods aren’t necessarily always the healthiest.
“She’s pretty partial to my chicken and dumplings,” Tim noted. “She likes that… My spaghetti sauce is pretty good, too, I have to say.”
The 53-year-old is able to work out while at home –– not that exercising is taking up too much of his time these days.
“I have a gym at home,” Tim said. “I don’t spend a lot of time in there, but I spend enough time in there … It’s sort of in my DNA now. I have to get my day started that way or I don’t feel right.”
Tim just released his latest song, “I Called Mama,” in honor of Mother’s Day.
“On the one hand this song is literally, ‘Hey, call your mom,’” Tim said of the song, which was written by Marv Green, Lance Miller and Jimmy Year. “On the other hand, you look at a time like this, there are real hardships for everyone, and it’s a great reminder that hearing someone’s voice who knows you and loves you can help you get through anything.
“I think it’s at these very difficult times that music can help and the power of a song can give someone a moment of clarity or comfort, or just a smile,” he added. “Especially now, when we seem to need it more than ever.”
Tim and Faith’s daughter, Maggie, helped launch the nonprofit, Feed the Frontline Nashville, to help feed those working on the frontlines during the coronavirus pandemic. Find more information at ftflbna.org.
