Tim McGraw Drops ‘Paper Umbrellas’ With Parker McCollum [LISTEN]

Tim McGraw has a new song, out now, and it’s with another country artist. McGraw just released “Paper Umbrellas,” a song written by Monty Criswell and Drake Milligan, this one with Parker McCollum. “Paper Umbrellas” first appeared on McGraw’s 2023 Standing Room Only record.

“Had to have my friend Parker McCollum join me on this one!” McGraw says of the newly-released duet.

“Been a fan of this guy for a long time,” adds McCollum. “Honored to have ‘Paper Umbrellas’ out with Tim McGraw today. Y’all check it out.”

McGraw has several dates on the calendar for 2025. Whether he adds “Paper Umbrellas” to his setlist or not remains to be seen. But after more than 30 years of making music, there are still a few songs that the father of three has to perform every time he takes the stage.

“It changes all the time,” McGraw reflects. “I think every artist will tell you when you get a chance to play your new stuff, that’s always fun. You look forward to that. The problem is you only have room to play a couple of new songs because during the show you might have a chance to play 20 songs. And so, the hardest thing to do is put together a set list, ’cause you’re not gonna get everybody’s favorite songs sometimes, or most of the time. And so, you just try to create an environment that everybody’s having fun in and everybody enjoys it.

“‘Live Like You Were Dying’ is always something that I don’t think I could ever get away from performing live and not doing, so I love doing that one,” he continues. “‘Cowboy In Me’ is one I always enjoy singing live. And ‘(Where the) Green Grass Grows’ has always been one of my favorites live.”

McGraw just celebrated his 47th No. 1 hit, with “One Bad Habit.” The song is on McGraw’s Poet’s Resumé EP.

“I love that record,” McGraw says on the Eden and Amadeus podcast, speaking of releasing “One Bad Habit.”. “It was one of those records that was interesting when we went into the studio. I loved the song. I was trying to figure out what to do with it because the demo was way different than the record we ended up making. It was slower and a whole different sort of arrangement. And we went and sort of dug in deep on that song because we felt like it was a really great song.”

“One Bad Habit” was the last single McGraw released. A new album is reportedly in the works. Find all of McGraw’s music and upcoming shows at TimMcGraw.com.
