Tim McGraw is at the top of the charts again. The 57-year-old just notched his 47th No. 1 hit with “One Bad Habit.” The song, which follows his previous chart-topping single, “Standing Room Only,” is from his surprise Poet’s Resumé EP, released in November of 2023.
“I love that record,” McGraw said on the Eden and Amadeus podcast, speaking of releasing “One Bad Habit” on Poet’s Resumé. “It was one of those records that was interesting when we went into the studio. I loved the song. I was trying to figure out what to do with it because the demo was way different than the record we ended up making. It was slower and a whole different sort of arrangement. And we went and sort of dug in deep on that song because we felt like it was a really great song.”
With the success of “One Bad Habit,” the Louisiana native extends his already-established record for the most Top 5 singles to 55, and ties him for the all-time lead for most Top 10 singles at 61. But McGraw is still far more interested in what is ahead of him than anything he has already accomplished.
“I still want to win the equivalent of the Super Bowl with every single I’m putting out,” McGraw told The Tennessean, adding that he equates his desire for success to that of an elite athlete.
“I’m still a hard-working songwriter playing my guitar who loves iconic country songs,” he added. “When I’m sitting at the mixing board with [producer Byron Gallimore], and we hear an undeniable song that we’ve developed, it fires up my competitive juices and the old athlete that I am wants to take the field.”
McGraw did not comment on social media about having another No.1. single, but he did use his platform to brag about his oldest daughter, 27-year-old Gracie, who made her off-Broadway debut on November 17 by appearing in BABE.
“So proud of our daughter Gracie!!!!!” McGraw posted. “Her billboard in Times Square for her play BABE with Alriss Howard and Marisa Tomei. Opening Night tonight!!!!!!! Nov 17, 2024!!!! A date that we will remember forever in our family!!!!! Proud Girl Dad!!!!!”

Gracie comes by her acting talent honestly. McGraw and his wife, Faith Hill, have each appeared in movies and on TV shows, including both starring together in the Yellowstone spin-off series, 1883.
“It was wonderful,” McGraw said of the experience. “I was always amazed every day doing scenes with her, how good she was. She really elevated my game and made me better, because she was just so natural and so good. And to see her build her arc as Margaret and how powerful and strong Margaret’s character became, and watch her build that was just pretty phenomenal.”
