It’s been 15 long years since Faith Hill released a studio album of just her own music, but if her husband, Tim McGraw, had his way, that would soon be changing. Faith’s last studio album was Fireflies, released in 2005, followed by the Christmas Joy to the World record in 2008, and the duets album, The Rest of Our Lives with Tim in 2017. Still, while it might have been a while without a new set of tunes, Tim says he is certain his wife of 23 years isn’t done making music.
“I would love for her to make an album,” Tim shared with SiriusXM’s Storme Warren. “She loves making music. She certainly wants to make more music. I think having two years touring together, which was really busy, and then having our youngest daughter graduate and our middle daughter graduate, I think it’s just a lot of family stuff, and a lot of busy stuff that’s she’s got going on personally that keeps her from doing that. But I promise you somewhere down the road, she’s going to be doing something really special.”
Tim would love to do another album of music together with his wife as well, but he says that’s up to Faith.
“Anytime Faith will let me sing with her, I will,” he said, adding with a laugh, “It depends if I’m in good voice or not if she’ll let me sing with her.”
The Louisiana native also would like his three daughters, Gracie, Maggie and Audrey, to join him on a project sometime together, since they are all musically inclined.
“I think that would be something that would be really special,” Tim said. “They all three sing really well, and they all play a little bit. They’re really good at it. I hope that happens somewhere down the road. They would want to sing with their mom before they would want to sing with me.”
It was Faith who encouraged Tim to record his current single, “I Called Mama,” which is currently in the Top 15.
“I wanted Faith to hear it, but I didn’t want to play it,” Tim recalled (via The Boot). “It was just a guitar demo or a guitar work tape … I wanted to sing it to her. So I was trying to learn the words to it really quickly so I could sing her just the first verse and chorus.”
“I sat down at the kitchen table and started singing it, and I couldn’t get through it,” he continued. “I got to the chorus, and every time I tried to get to the chorus, I would fall apart on it. She would start crying because I was crying.”
“I Called Mama” is from Tim’s upcoming Here on Earth album, which will be released on August 21. It is currently available via via Amazon or Tim’s website.
