The video for Tim McGraw‘s hit single, “Standing Room Only,” is out now. The song, written by Craig Wiseman, Tommy Cecil and Patrick Murphy, is the title track from his forthcoming new album, out later this year.
“This video brings the song to life by really giving you a visual of shedding the past and bringing light, literally, to the old junk,” McGraw explains to CMT. “I love the metaphor of standing in a junkyard and watching it light up. Then we had these sweet vignettes – of a mother and son, of a dad and daughter and others, that showed old junk items coming to life because of their memories. I thought that was a cool concept. That it’s not the ‘stuff’ but the memories of life we hold dear.”
McGraw has had plenty of time watching himself on a screen, including in the hit TV series, 1883, but he admits seeing him in videos isn’t his favorite part of his job.
“I never love watching myself over and over in a video,” McGraw concedes. “But I was really happy with the job they did on the video. I love the junkyard area and the way the lights shine out of the car. I thought the other actors did a great job.”
From the moment McGraw heard “Standing Room Only,” he knew it was one he wanted to share with his fans.
“‘Standing Room Only’ is a special one, and I think the life-affirming message holds true,” McGraw says. “Live a life filled with gratitude and don’t take things for granted.”
The Top 30 single is one of several songs the Louisiana native is eager to share with the rest of the world, on his next set of tunes.
“There are a couple of really life-affirming songs that I can’t wait for everybody to hear,” McGraw previously revealed on Audacy’s Katie & Company.. One called ‘Letter From Heaven’ that really just tears me up every time I hear it. You’re gonna have to have a Kleenex for that one. But there are some fun songs too.”
The father of three adds that, while there are serious songs on the project, there will also be some lighthearted ones as well.
“There are some really good, sort of throwback country things on this that I really enjoy doing, and got into my George Strait vein a little bit,” he adds. “There’s a good mixture of stuff. I always try to do that with every album. I never want to just have one style of song on the album. I want to give you sort of a smorgasbord to choose from.”
