Tim McGraw is combining two of his favorite things — country music and baseball — into one unforgettable night. The Louisiana native will headline an all-day concert event at the iconic Field of Dreams on August 30 in Dyersville, Iowa. The historic show will take place at the field made famous by the 1989 Field of Dreams film, starring Kevin Costner.
The Field of Dreams concert will also honor McGraw’s late father, Tug McGraw, with the event taking place on what would have been the famous baseball player’s 81st birthday. The concert is being put on in partnership with USCA (U.S. Concert Agency) and StubHub.
“We’re thrilled to partner with USCA to bring Tim McGraw’s performance to such a historic and beloved venue,” Adam Budelli, Head of North America Partnerships at StubHub, says. “This event is going to be an incredible experience for both country music fans and baseball lovers, and we’re proud to provide fans with easy access to tickets through StubHub’s global platform.”
The Field of Dreams concert is just one of the many plans McGraw has for 2025. The 57-year-old wants to do a lot of work, mostly on himself, in the coming year.
“There are way more things on my list that I need to get better at than there are things that I’ve gotten better at,” McGraw says. “We’re all a work in progress, and every day you’re trying to do something to make yourself a better person. Some days you fail at that and some days you don’t. It’s hard not to dwell on the things that you’ve done wrong, but if you dwell on those things you sort of get lost in the muck. And my philosophy, I don’t always accomplish it, but all you can do is try to do the next best thing. If you do something wrong, just try to do the next best thing.”
McGraw grew close to his father as an adult, but their early years were tumultuous. The “One Bad Habit” singer was 11 years old when he found his birth certificate listing Tug as his father.
“People ask me, ‘How could you have a relationship with your father? You were growing up in nothing. He was a millionaire baseball player. He knew you were there, and he didn’t do anything,’” McGraw said on the Today Show. “But when I found out Tug McGraw was my dad, it gave me something in my little town in Louisiana, something that I would have never reached for. How could I ever be angry?”
More artists are expected to be announced for this historic event in the near future. Pre-sale tickets will be available beginning on January 20 at USCA.live. Currently, the country music hitmaker only has a few dates on the calendar for 2025. Find all of McGraw’s music and upcoming shows at TimMcGraw.com.
