Tim McGraw is known for his svelte physique and rigorous workout schedule, but even he likes to splurge every now and then. The 56-year-old reveals his favorite non-healthy foods he likes to indulge in, which usually involve his wife, Faith Hill.
“Faith and I like to take a lot of road trips,” McGraw says on Audacy’s Katie & Company. “And so a Chick-fil-A or McDonald’s, I love a Big Mac every now and then still. So on a road trip, to get a Big Mac is pretty cool.”
Still, his favorite food of all time is his wife’s cooking, which is also his typical birthday dinner.
“Faith’s Southern cooking is my real true cheat meal,” McGraw says. “I try to do it once a month, but every now and then, I ask her for twice a month.”
McGraw has often praised his wife’s cooking, but he can hold his own in the kitchen as well. In fact, it’s the “Standing Room Only” singer who makes dinner for everyone on Christmas Eve.
“My mom’s Italian, so I grew up on Christmas Eve having pasta for Christmas Eve dinner,” McGraw shares. “I make spaghetti and meatballs every [Christmas] Eve, and we usually have it around noon or one. All the family we have that lives in the area all show up, so we usually have 20 or 30 people … It’s a big ol’ pot of spaghetti and meatballs. And then we play games afterwards, and karaoke. We always have karaoke.”
McGraw loves celebrating the holidays, but his favorite tradition is one started by his three daughters, which involves costumes, creativity and more.
Harry Potter night. Who is who?

“They’ve created this theme night thing that we do,” McGraw reveals. “It’s based on TV shows or movies, or books sometimes, and they’ll pick a theme, and then we’ll have a dinner – the food has to fit the theme as well. We’ll put all these characters in a hat, and everybody has to draw a character out of the hat, and then you have to dress up as that character, but you can only use things that you can find around the house. It typically involves a lot of their friends coming over, so there’s ten of 15 of us. We have this big dinner, and everybody’s dressed up as a character.”
We did Game of Thrones one night… We did The Great, which was a lot of fun. We did Harry Potter one night, so I’m curious to see what they come up with this year.”
McGraw will likely soak up all the family time he can before he hits the road next year. The singer will headline his Standing Room Only Tour, kicking off on March 22. Carly Pearce will serve as the opening act for all dates. Find all of McGraw’s music and upcoming shows at TimMcGraw.com.
