Todd Tilghman Shares Personal Reason for Releasing ‘Goodness of God’ [EXCLUSIVE]

Todd Tilghman has a new song out, just in time for Easter. The Season 18 winner of The Voice just released “Goodness of God,” a song that has become an anthem for him, his wife Brooke and their eight children since it was released.

“‘Goodness of God’ is probably one of the most meaningful worship songs to me and my family, period,” Tilghman tells Everything Nash. “From the first time I ever even heard it, I kind of play a movie in my head of all the times God has come through. In my own heart and mind, and in my marriage and family… He’s come to my rescue so many times. I do the song live all the time, and it just seems to be received really well.

“The decision to officially release it came from the amazing response we received from a video of a time I sang it live,” he continues. “I just really hope it can remind people how good He’s been, and how faithful. Especially if they’re in a dark period. I hope it reminds them that He’s always come through, and He will again.”

Tilghman also spoke out about “Goodness of God” on social media, and the impact it has had on him and his family.

“It’s kind of funny because if you think about it, most of you met me through covering songs on a television show,” Tilghman writes. “Now, I’m releasing one of my favorite worship songs and I hope that it blesses you. This journey has had its ups and downs but I’m grateful and I’ve been thinking of ways to explain it- but I’d say this is pretty close to it.  It’s all because of God and His goodness.
Thank you for supporting this ole guy from Meridian. I’m grateful.”

“Goodness of God” follows another spiritual song, “Dig My Grave,” which Tilghman released in early 2023.

“On the surface, it’s really just a Biblical truth, that this life is not all there is,” Tilghman said on the Rob Patz Project. “One of these days, we have a promise from the Scripture — it might not be our favorite Bible promise — but we all have a promise that our hearts are going to stop beating and this life will end. But that’s not the end. And so that’s what the song is about. But aside from that, it’s a jam. It really is … It’s really like a rock, swampy song, but it’s a gospel song.”
