Todd Tilghman Honors His Mother With New Single, ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’

More music is coming from Todd Tilghman. The father of eight announced on social media that his new single, “Blood, Sweat and Tears,” written in honor of his own mother, will be released on May 19.

“Mom is the rock of the family,,” Tilghman shared on social media. “We all say she’s not outwardly emotional, but we’ve all heard her remind us that she’s praying for us, and talk about God’s plan for us through tears. Blood, Sweat & Tears is for you, mom.”

Tilghman was inspired to write “Blood, Sweat and Tears” by thinking about his mother, and the impact she has had on him throughout his life, along with his own faith and tenacity.

“‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’ is a song about all the things that got me where I am today, not the least of which is my mama’s prayers,” Tilghman told Everything Nash. “Everything I am and everything I have is because of the blood of Jesus, the sweat of my own brow, and my mama’s tears.”

Tilghman recently earned praise from his former coach on The Voice, Blake Shelton, who surprised the crowd by calling while Tilghman was performing at Ole Red Gatlinburg. Tilghman won Season 18 of The Voice in 2020.

“You’re the reason I’m quitting the show,” Shelton joked. “It’s never been the same since you and I had that epic run that we had. I don’t know if people out there remember or not, but the year that you won the show was the COVID-lockdown sucky year. You were filming yourself from your house, and the church down there. I was filming myself from here in Oklahoma.

“That in a lot of ways was the hardest season that I’ve ever been a part of,” he continued. “It was hard for a lot of people doing a lot of things. But it’s just more of a testament to you and your talent, and breaking through, and just your overall message. I just feel really proud of you, and blown away by that season.”

Tilghman recently teased a collaboration with Jake Hoot and The Swon Brothers. He released his version of “Goodness of God” in April, which followed Dig My Grave.” Pre-save “Blood, Sweat and Tears” here. Find all of Tilghman’s music and upcoming shows at ToddTOfficial.com.
