A live album is coming from Tracy Lawrence! The singer-songwriter announces the release of Live at Billy Bob’s Texas, a commemorative album, out on May 12. The 18-track record, recorded on October 8, 2022 at the historic venue, features some of Lawrence’s biggest hits, including “Alibis” and “Paint Me a Birmingham,” covers of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and “In Color,” and more.
“Billy Bob’s is a show that I’ve always looked forward to playing throughout the years,” Lawrence says. “I have a lot of family and friends in Texas that come out and the history of this venue makes for a really fun show. I’m excited for fans to be able to hear the energy that my band helps me create while on the road.”
Lawrence will spend a few weeks on the road with Gary Allan next month, on their co-headlining tour, which begins on May 18, and runs through June 3.
“I’m really looking forward to doing these shows with Gary Allan,” Lawrence says of their joint trek. “We’ve been talking every day and we’re really excited to hit the road together. What he brings to the table is unmatched and is going to elevate an already great night of music.”
After having surgery at the end of last year, the 55-year-old is grateful for the chance to both release more music and perform in 2023.
“I came into this new year wanting to start again,” Lawrence told Everything Nash. “I had surgery over the holidays, I had surgery on my neck, so I’ve been kind of out of it. I had surgery done in December, so I’ve been down for a while. It’s one of the procedures where they go through the front of your throat and your neck. They had to move the vocal cords out of the way. So I’m just now getting my singing voice back. It was a little bit scary, which is why I put it off for so long. So hopefully I’m gonna be able to start writing in the very near future.”
