Trisha Yearwood has played in sold-out stadiums, but now she is bringing her music to a much smaller crowd. The Georgia native will play an intimate show at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe, taking place next week. Yearwood announced the news on social media.

While Yearwood will likely join her husband, Garth Brooks, at his upcoming Las Vegas residency, she is also working on her own projects, with the encouragement of Brooks.

“Here’s a spoiler alert,” Brooks told CMT. “How about being married to someone who has more Grammys than you do? Then you say, ‘What is her future, and how do I be a mate to her and whatever she wants to do?’ She’s kind of in the same place in her life where she’ll be starting new chapters. I want her to, without pause or hesitation to go, ‘I want to do this.’ Then my job is to be her love and her support.”

The Georgia native made the decision to put some of her aspirations on hold while her husband was on his massive Stadium Tour, a sacrifice she willingly made for the sake of their marriage.

“We were both married before, and so we thought if we’re going to be together, let’s not get married to be together and then be apart,” Yearwood told SheKnows. “That means sometimes you don’t get to do things you want to do because I would love to go do this movie or that project, but I’d be gone for two weeks and he can’t go so that’s just not an option.”

Yearwood’s first hit, “She’s In Love With the Boy,” released in 1991, also became her first No. 1 hit. With dozens of singles and songs released since then, Yearwood still performs “She’s In Love With the Boy” as much as possible, thanks to some advice Porter Wagoner gave her early in her career.

“I never, ever get tired of singing this song,” Yearwood said. “It’s a great story song about how nobody’s ever good enough for Daddy’s little girl. When I’m on the Opry I always play this song for Porter Wagoner, who is the gentleman who inducted me when I became a member of the Grand Ole Opry 20 years ago, so this will always be for Porter. He always said, ‘Sing the one that brung you.’”

In 2021, “She’s In Love With the Boy” was named the most-listened to country song by a female artist in the history of Billboard charts.
