Trisha Yearwood Praises Nashville’s Food Scene: ‘It’s All Here’

Trisha Yearwood is a famous singer, but she’s also become a famous chef as well. The host of Food Network’s award-winning Trisha’s Southern Kitchen knows a lot about food, which is why she is especially happy to currently call Nashville home, thanks to its exploding food scene.

“Every city that gets big in a hurry like we have goes through its own growing pains, but one of the best things to come out of that growth is the amount of great new restaurants that have made Nashville home,” Yearwood tells The Tennessean. “I love that you can get whatever kind of food you want in this town, from our famous meat and three diners to our five-star, fancy tablecloth restaurants. It’s all here.”

Yearwood’s love of food also led her to release four cookbooks, including her latest Trisha’s Kitchen: Easy Comfort Food for Friends and Family. Between her cookbooks and her TV show, the Grand Ole Opry member says food is almost always on her mind.

“I’m always tasting something I want to ‘Trisha-fy’ or waking up in the middle of the night with one of those, ‘What if I mixed this with that?’ ideas,” Yearwood says. “It’s fun.”

While Yearwood’s latest cookbook has plenty of healthy recipes, an intentional decision on her part, Yearwood also has plenty of recipes with one of her favorite ingredients: bacon. In fact, bacon is found more than 150 times in Trisha’s Kitchen, including in her recipe for Bacon-Potato Chip Brownies.

“Even if [people] are a bit skeptical when they think about putting brownies with bacon and potato chips, I know once they take a bite, I’ll have a convert,” Yearwood boasts.

“I mean, I wrote a love letter to bacon in my latest cookbook,” she adds, “so I guess you could say it is its own food group at our house,”

Yearwood will soon have another place to enjoy delicious food in Music City: her husband, Garth BrooksFriends in Low Places restaurant, bar and music venue.

“Friends In Low Places will be the Chick-Fil-A of honky-tonks,” Brooks hints (via The Tennessean). “I want a thumping, crazy place where people feel good — but they’re also safe, loved, comfortable, and are treated well with good manners.”

An opening date for Friends in Low Places has yet to be announced. The restaurant will be located at 411 Broadway.
