Trisha Yearwood is apparently spending her time self-isolating, working on new recipes! The singer just announced she is working on a new cookbook, which will be her fourth.
“I’ve just started working on cookbook number four,” said Trisha via Facebook, as part of her weekly T’s Coffee Talk series. “Did I just make an announcement? I don’t know if I did or not, but that’ll hopefully be coming out next year. And it’s been really fun. I’ve missed doing it. Writing the books is always kind of cathartic for me. It started with the very first one that my mom and my sister [Beth] and I wrote, after my dad passed. It was a way for us to be together, and it was a way for us to really honor him, because he was a great cook.
“And then we wrote that second book together,” she continued. “And then the third book, Beth and I did, and that became a tribute to both of our parents. And so, I’m really excited. You’re not going to see any surprises. I figured out that what we do is comfort food, and it’s not food that you should probably eat every day, but if you’re going to indulge, here’s how to do it, and so that’s what we’re going with. I’m excited; I’m having a really good time.”
Trisha is also the star of her own Trisha’s Southern Kitchen cooking show, airing on the Food Network. The series has continued without a break since the coronavirus pandemic began, which was just a stroke of good fortune for the Grand Ole Opry member.
“I think we’re very lucky that we shot the season in February, and we wrapped right before March 1, right before everything kind of started shutting down,” Trisha explained. “And so, we were lucky that we have shows that can air during this time. We’re figuring out how we are going to go forward. We are going to go forward, of course, and we’re figuring that out.
“I love the way our show looks, and I love the way it’s produced, so we’re not going to change,” she continued. “We’re going to wait until we can do the show the way we feel sticks with the integrity of our show. But we are going to have some creative things that we’re going to do in the meantime, where we can get back to shooting. So we’re not going anywhere. We’re going to be around.”
In between writing recipes, the Georgia native is enjoying a lot of time at home with her husband, Garth Brooks, although she admits even when he is off the road, he stays pretty busy.
“I woke up this morning, he was gone. Not forever,” Trisha revealed. “This is what he does in the morning: he gets up in the morning early. He made my coffee and he goes and starts working on the farm. That’s been his therapy during all of this, is to get out and do stuff. I don’t know if you guys are this way, but you have all these projects around your house that you’re thinking, ‘This is going to take three years to get done. But we’ll do them eventually. They’re backburner things.’
“He got all of those things done in the first couple weeks,” she added. “He’s probably knocking down a tree with a bulldozer right now. But that’s what makes him happy. He just promised me he would be careful.”
Trisha’s three previous cookbooks are Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen, Home Cooking With Trisha Yearwood, and Trisha’s Southern Kitchen.
