Tyler Braden‘s Neon Grave EP is out! The Alabama native released the six-track project on Friday, March 3, which includes his hit single, “Try Losing One.” For Braden, the chance to share his own project with the world, especially with a hit single already out, is a lot for Braden to absorb, in the best way possible.
“It’s emotional in its own way,” Braden tells Everything Nash. “It has its own emotional value from each song to the next. It’s showing the direction I’m taking as an artist and as a writer, and wanting to bring in more of that rock influence and take that step in that direction. Tthat’s what the live show feels like. And so, I want people to feel the same emotion when they listen to my songs at home as they do when they come to the shows, but in different ways, when you can see a visual representation of it.”
In an era when more and more artists choose just to release singles instead of full records, Braden is still a fan of a completed project, one that takes listeners, and even himself, on a journey.
“I ove when there’s a flow and a just a way you can feel, and there are pillars of emotion in different ways,” explains the singer. “I look at that just like a live show. Whenever we put the songs in order for the EP, I look at it as if we’re playing these songs for a live show. When we opened for Mitchell Tenpenny, we had a 45-minute set. So we’re trying to put together, and to have ups and downs emotionally, and put on a show more than just play 45 minutes of consecutive songs.”
Braden will put that skill set to use when he joins Luke Bryan later this year, on Bryan’s Country On Tour this summer.
“When we open for Luke Bryan later in the year, we have 25 minutes,” Braden shares. “It’s a little harder to do, but we’re still gonna do our best to do it even in five or six songs, the same way we do in a five or six-song EP.”
The rising star could have never predicted how much his entire life and career would change with the release of “Try Losing One,” a song he wrote with Brian Davis and Adam Wood.
“I love to meet people who relate to the songs in different ways.” Braden says. “‘Try Losing One’ is definitely one of those songs that you can relate to, in what I jokingly say is the shallower meaning of losing someone, but also it’s the deeper meaning of losing someone. And it’s been great to just see how people connect to the song. I mean, I’ve told so many people that Dave Grohl said, ‘You can sing a song to 85,000 people, and they’ll sing it back for 85,000 different reasons.’ I’ve learned how true that is with ‘Try Losing One,’ because of the ways people can relate to it.”
Braden has a busy 2023. In addition to opening for Bryan this summer, he will also serve as the opening act for select dates on Chase Rice‘s Way Down Yonder Tour, as well as Dierks Bentley‘s Gravel & Gold Tour. Neon Grave, as well as all of Braden’s upcoming shows, can be found at TylerBraden.com.
