The 37-year-old just released his sophomore album as a solo artist, Strong. The record, which follows his 2023 eponymous debut solo album, was created to connect more with his fans, especially on stage.
“It was just to let them in to who I am even more, and know one another,” Hubbard said during a recent media event, sharing the inspiration behind creating Strong. “Hopefully that connection to music is really powerful and special. That’s a fun thing I feel like this year for the first time, after putting out my debut album, I was really able to be in that with my fans for the first time, and see what they wanted, see what they were resonating with and connecting with.”
When writing the 13 songs on Strong, Hubbard was thinking about what he wanted to perform live in front of his fans.
“Seeing in the set what was missing or what was working, and coming back to the bus, and writing these songs for the next album,” Hubbard explained. “So I feel like it was somewhat reverse engineered … I hope with each album, I hope the fans continue to get to know who I am.”
Hubbard is currently serving as the opening act on Kane Brown‘s In The Air Tour. It’s a full-circle moment for Hubbard, who watched Brown perform at the very beginning of his career, opening for Hubbard’s former duo, Florida Georgia Line.
“It was incredible to watch him take on the challenge and grow a ton on that tour, and now it’s full circle,” Hubbard shared. “Now I’m getting to open up for him. I’ve watched him play and I’m just like, ‘Wow.’ He’s really grown into something special and he’s just an awesome dude. He’s a great artist. I think he has really found himself and knows who he is and what he wants to be.
“It’s just cool to see, because it’s not every day that you have that story, and not every day that you get to see artists keep it together and be consistent, and put out great music and maintain a family, and do what he’s doing,” he continued. “So, a lot of love for Kane. I’m excited to be back out with him, and I know we’re going to have a good time.”
