Tyler Hubbard has a new single, out now. The father of three just released “Back Then Right Now,” likely from a forthcoming new album.
“These past few months I’ve been writing a ton of songs and working in the studio,” Hubbard says on social media. “I’m super excited to share all the new music I’ve been workin on but this song is one of my favorites.”
Hubbard wrote “Back Then Right Now” with Jessie Jo Dillion, Geoff Warburton, and David Garcia, inspired by thinking about taking lessons from the past and applying them to the present.
“I think there’s a lot that we can take from our past and incorporate it into our present and make our present,” Hubbard told Everything Nash and other outlets, during a recent media event. “We can learn from the past and even the simple things in life that we maybe got away from, whether it be my smartphone, for example, or whatever, [and] incorporating the beauty of that into our current modern era here.
“And even if it’s putting my phone away for half a day and assessing how I’m feeling and being present and just little things like that, you realize the impact of something that wasn’t even around when I was growing up,” he added.
Hubbard was inspired by his own life when writing “Back Then Right Now,’ but he hopes the message inspires others as well.
“I’m hoping that everyone can channel that and that this song kind of takes them to that happy place,” he said, “and that we can sort of infiltrate our current present day with things that made us happy.”
“Back Then Right Now” follows Hubbard’s two back-to-back No. 1 hits.“5 Foot 9” and “Dancin’ In The Country,” the latter a song he wrote with Keith Urban, Ross Copperman and Jon Nite.
“Having a second No. 1, one year to the day after my debut solo single was released, is really incredible,” Hubbard said when “Dancin’ In The Country” landed at the top of the charts. “It’s been an amazing year, and I’m thankful to country radio and the fans for embracing my music, and to Keith, Ross and Jon for sharing their creative genius with me.”
Hubbard is spending much of the remainder of the year on the road, both headlining his own shows and serving as the opening act for select dates with Old Dominion. Find “Back Then Right Now” and all of Hubbard’s music at TylerHubbardOfficial.com.
