Tyler Hubbard‘s latest song, “Dancin’ In The Country,” is quickly becoming a fan-favorite. The song was written by Hubbard, along with Keith Urban, Jon Nite and Ross Copperman, which marked the first — and so far only — time Hubbard and Urban sat down to write together.
“We pretty much just had a good time,” Hubbard said on Apple Music Country’s Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen. “I said, ‘Let’s write something that feels good. That’s really fun. That makes you want to dance.’ We’ve been having these dance parties every night at my house after dinner with our three kids… And so, I was sort of in that head space of, let’s just make some fun music.”
It was Urban and Copperman who started working on the track, while Hubbard and Nite tackled the lyrics. The combination of all of their talents made “Dancin’ In The Country” one of the fastest songs Hubbard has ever written.
“I think we wrote that song in three hours and had a great demo that evening,” Hubbard reveals.
Hubbard will join Urban on his The Speed of Now World Tour beginning in September, where he hopes the two can do plenty more collaborating.
“He’s great. I’ve admired and respected Keith for a long time … He’s always just been so great, supportive, and kind to me, and really been a friend,” Hubbard says. “He texts me on a regular basis and reaches out and just literally says, ‘How you doing?’ And it’s just, ‘Oh wow.’ I know he’s busy. I know we’re all busy. And to take the time to think about me and just to text me and ask me how I’m doing, I don’t know, it goes a long way.”
Chances are good that Hubbard will indeed get to write plenty more songs with his tour boss. Urban previously said he invited Hubbard out on the road with him not only for his talent as a performer, but as a songwriter as well.
“First of all, I’ve always loved [Tyler’s] voice,” Urban previously said Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen. “We got to write together a few months ago for the first time, and we wrote a song that he ended up recording that I’m very excited about. And it was really great being in a writing room with him. I was curious about his process and his way of approaching things. And I was really impressed with his compositional skills as a writer. He’s really, really good.”
“Dancin’ In The Country” is the title track of Hubbard’s debut solo EP, out now. Find Hubbard’s music and tour dates at TylerHubbardOfficial.com.
