We’ve always known Carrie Underwood has a generous heart, but her latest donation endears her to us even more. While appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Underwood surprised a young fan, Hayley Orlinsky, who had been tirelessly raising money for her local hospital in Chicago, after she found out they were running low on PPE (personal protective equipment). The young girl decided to make friendship bracelets and sell them, with an initial goal of raising $200.
Prior to appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Hayley had already raised an astonishing $27,000, which impressed both Underwood and Barrymore. Underwood surprised Hayley by appearing virtually to congratulate her on her charitable efforts, and also give her a generous donation as well.
“I wish so much that I could be looking at you face-to-face, in-person right now,” Underwood told an emotional Hayley. “You’re adorable! You’re a perfect example — it doesn’t matter how old you are, where you are, whatever it is that you’re into. You took your love of making bracelets and you used it to make the world a better place, so yay Hayley!”
Underwood made the donation in partnership with Bodyarmor Lyte, a company that Underwood has recently started working with to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Hayley chose the hospital because she was once a patient there, in the NICU.
“That’s gonna help the hospital and gonna help with vaccinations, and we are so thankful,” Hayley’s mom, Lori Orlinksy said.
Underwood recently revealed her organizing and cleaning tips, including the one job she tries to do every single day: make her bed!
“If I don’t have time, I don’t have time,” Underwood shared. “But when I walk by my room, if I’m there, in my house, and I walk by my room, and my bed is in shambles, it just irks me every time I walk by it. So at some point I have to stop and I have to make it. And then each time I walk by it I feel good.”
Barrymore also donated $5000 as well. Two bracelets can be bought for five dollars. To find out more information, or to purchase the friendship bracelets, click here.
