If there was ever a time for a song about drinking, it’s now, and there’s not a better band to do it than the all-vocal group, Home Free. The guys just shared a new cover, this time of Foy Vance’s “Moonshine,” and the accompanying video proves it’s okay to imbibe during happy hour, or any hour, even while apart because of COVID-19.
Foy originally released “Moonshine” in December of 2016. The song, which featured Kacey Musgraves on the track, was part of the soundtrack for the Ben Affleck film, Live by Night.
Home Free member Rob Lundquist spoke out about their latest cover on social media, crediting fellow band member Austin Brown for his stunning vocal arrangement.
Got to lounge out and enjoy a little bottle of good time for our latest video. @_theaustinbrown arranged this killer @foyvance tune and it was a blast to sing. Hope you’re happy, healthy and safe out there! Enjoy some moonshine! #NewVideo #Moonshinehttps://t.co/8kK6ca3JTr pic.twitter.com/5cEskFjyM4

Home Free has recently released covers of several classic tunes, including Surfaces’ “Sunday Best,” “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers, “Everybody Walkin’ This Land” by Paul Cauthen, and Diamond Rio’s “Meet in the Middle,” among others. But their most-beloved cover remains “God Bless the U.S.A.” with Lee Greenwood and the United States Air Force Band.
“It is really powerful and I’m not usually that I’m passionate about our music,” Austin told Everything Nash. “We do a lot of great music and I’m so proud of all of it, but this song is something that I’m going to hang my hat on for the rest of my life, no matter what else we accomplish. Being able to do this song in a moment like this right now, it’s powerful.”
Home Free was forced to delay their Dive Bar Saints World Tour, due to COVID-19. Their Dive Bar Saints album is out now. Purchase the record, and keep track of tour updates at HomeFreeMusic.com.
