Luke Bryan helped surprise, Cassidy Gubin a devoted Memphis nurse, working on the frontlines during the coronavirus pandemic.
“I work in an Intensive Care unit,” Cassidy said on Good Morning America, “You see things that you only think you would hear on TV. You never really imagine.”
Cassidy admits it is a fearful time to be in the medical field, but she chooses to work in spite of the risks she faces.
“I wouldn’t change my job for the world,” Cassidy insisted. “I signed up to help people, and that’s what I want to do.”
Now more than ever, Cassidy needs to find a way to escape, which for her is long walks while listening to music, including one of her favorite singers: Luke.
“I love going on long walks. It just relaxes me, and I love listening to music,” she said. “Luke Bryan is my favorite. His songs just always make me smile.”
It was so awesome to meet Cassidy. We're so grateful to you and everyone on the front lines for everything you guys do! Thanks @GMA for making this happen. https://t.co/HGSrBdi2fI

At that point, Luke suddenly popped up on Cassidy’s screen, to offer his own heartfelt thanks for the work she, and so many others, are doing during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Thank you for everything you’re doing on the frontlines,” Luke said. “You’re inspiring us. We’re told to sit at home, and you’re told to go straight in to the hospital, where actively sick patients are. You’re certainly a hero to me.”
Luke isn’t the only country star who surprised a nurse during Good Morning America. Blake Shelton also made an appearance earlier in the month, this time to honor mother and daughter nurses, after the mother successfully recovered from COVID-19.
