Scotty McCreery wasn’t quite three years old when Deana Carter released her iconic hit, “Strawberry Wine,” but he has always been a fan of the song. The American Idol alum performed a cover of the nostalgic tune, as part of CMA’s online Summer Stay-Cay special.
“Hope y’all are doing well, staying safe, staying healthy,” Scotty said ahead of his performance. “Thank y’all so much for tuning in to CMA Summer Stay-Cay. I’m excited to be a part of this; a lot of great artists, a lot of great songs. And I get the pleasure of singing one of my favorites. A song that’s one of the biggest in ’90s history, country history.”

Other artists who appeared include Carly Pearce, Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, Lady A and more. The entire livestream, which was hosted by Lindsay Ell and Jimmie Allen, can be viewed via CMA’s Facebook page.
Scotty just celebrated his third consecutive No. 1 hit, with “In Between.” The song is from his latest Seasons Change album, which was released in 2018.
“Earning a No.1 record on ‘In Between,’ which is a song that defines me, is amazing. I loved writing this song with Frank, Jessi and Jonathan and telling my story,” Scotty said of the song. “Earning three No.1 songs in a row is the perfect way to celebrate Seasons Change and how that album changed my life.”
Scotty has been off the road because of COVID-19, where he is learning to live in a house instead of on a bus.
“I would say I’ve gotten a little bit better through quarantine, because I’ve just been home more, and I think I’m learning more home etiquette,” Scotty shared on the Bobby Bones Show. “Home etiquette and bus etiquette are two totally different things, I would say.”
“I do (miss the bus),” he added. “I’ve always lived, and I sleep better on the bus, because the engine’s kind of lulling me to sleep. You have endless snacks right above your head, that you can just pull out whenever you’re hungry. I’m itching to get back on the road.”
