Whey Jennings is continuing his family’s legacy with his new album, If It Wasn’t For the Sinnin’, out now. The five-track EP landed in the Top 30 on iTunes when it was released.
“I can’t thank y’all enough for all the support through the years,” Jennings shares on social media. “It’s been a bumpy road at times but the destination was worth it! Love yall!
If It Wasn’t For The Sinnin’ includes the track, “Farm Life,” which was released last month.
“I worked on a cotton farm in West Texas for ten years so farming is near and dear to my heart,” Jennings tells The Country Note. “A buddy of mine named Brent Adams does a podcast for farm life and asked me to do a theme song for it, and when I started to write it all my years of experience on the cotton farm came rushing back. Thanks goes out to Bryan and Keven Bentley for giving me a job many years ago and making me into the man I am today.”
The grandson of Waylon Jennings tapped into country music’s rich history in recording “Farm Life,” as well as all of the other songs on the new set of tunes. Jennings recorded the record at Ronnie Milsap‘s legendary studio on Music Row.
“It was amazing to feel the vibes there,” Jennings says. “My grandfather Waylon even recorded there. Glad to carry on that family tradition … This whole album was a pleasure to record at Ronnie’s Place Studio on Music Row. The session players were top notch and I want to thank each and every one of them for making these songs come alive. It’s an experience I won’t forget and I can’t wait to get back in there with the guys and make another album!”
Last December, Jennings announced that he had signed a new record deal, and would be working hard on new music in 2022, a task he was looking forward to more than ever, since he became sober at the start of the pandemic.
“I’m trying to come out with a different message than what I’ve had in the past,” Jennings previously told Everything Nash.. “It’s been a pretty big thing for me. Most of my life I’ve been running these roads, crazy drinking, doing drugs, craziness, womanizing. But this year I stopped in my tracks with this whole COVID thing. And I went to rehab and I got sober, and I married the woman of my dreams.”
