William Lee Golden has a new song out, and it’s with an Australian singer. Golden just released “I’ve Got My Heart On You,” with Danni Stefanetti, a song that marks a career-first for Golden, who is making his debut as a songwriter with the feel-good track.
“My youngest son Solomon Golden, inspired this love song,” Golden explains. “When he was six years old and I was on tour with The Oak Ridge Boys, he would call my phone and leave a message, ‘Hey Dad, this is Solomon ‘I’ve Got My Heart on You.” It was so precious and special to get his expressions of love. I would save his sweet messages. I wrote this song when he was a teenager and he is now 23 years old and studying medicine in college. Danni Stefanetti helped me sing and record this song for my son Solomon. Thank you, Danni.”
“It was an honor and privilege to be able to work with a country music legend,” adds Stefanetti. “William Lee Golden was a delight to create and record with. He wrote a great song!”
Golden is no stranger to making music on his own, in addition to his work with The Oak Ridge Boys. The Alabama native has also been making music with his family band, William Lee Golden & The Goldens, with dates on the calendar through the end of the year, along with being part of The Oak Ridge Boys’ American Made: Farewell Tour.
The Goldens released a three-record collection, Golden Classics, in 2022, music that was made during the pandemic, when The Oak Ridge Boys were unable to tour
“During the pandemic, I had to turn off all of the negative hate on television news … I watched about three weeks of this stuff, saying, ‘What the hell is going on here?’” Golden recalled on RC’s Social Saloon. “I had to turn all of the hate off, because I felt like it was invading my soul, and my spirit. So we started singing old songs, getting the family together. And during that pandemic, I got my sons together, and our band, our family band. We recorded 34 old songs that we found were healing to us, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritual healing.”
Golden is deeply missing one of the original members of The Goldens, his eldest son, Rusty, who passed away in July.
“This is the hardest thing ever for a father to have to face,” Golden said at the time. “I love my family more than anything. Rusty was a great musician, a talented songwriter, and a wonderful son. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers for the days ahead. I love you, son.”
The Oak Ridge Boys have a new single, “I Thought About You, Lord,” a collaboration with Willie Nelson, which is out now. The song is included on Mama’s Boys. The Oak Ridge Boys’ forthcoming new album, which will be released on October 25.
