Wynonna Judd just announced her 2023 tour dates, where she will be joined by several superstar acts. The 58-year-old will embark on the new leg of The Judds: The Final Tour on January 26 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, performing 15 shows, wrapping up on February 25 in Hollywood, Florida. Tanya Tucker will join Judd on select dates, along with Ashley McBryde, Kelsea Ballerini, Brandi Carlile and Little Big Town. Martina McBride will also serve as the opening act for all dates.
“What I can think of to say is that I am looking so forward to being out on the road again, and that I am absolutely thrilled to have my friends joining me for this next tour,” Wynonna says. “I’m so grateful to the fans that they want more and I’m anxious to be with everybody again.”
The Judds: The Final Tour was supposed to be Wynonna’s final tour with her mother, Naomi Judd. After Naomi passed away on April 30, one day before the duo’s induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Wynonna announced that she would continue the tour in her mother’s honor.
“I’ve lived my life publicly since I was 17, so it feels natural to be with my family of choice,” Wynonna said during her mother’s public memorial service, Naomi Judd: A River of Time Celebration. “Tonight is a celebration, and at the same time, I can’t put into words how devastated I am …I said goodbye to her two weeks ago, kissed her on the forehead. Her eyebrows were still perfect. She was unlike anyone in our family. And I miss her so much. But I will continue to sing. I said I would and I will.”
“So I’ve made a decision, and I thought I’d share it on national television that, after a lot of thought, I’m gonna have to honor her and do this tour,” she continued “I’m just gonna have to, ’cause that’s what you would want. Bono once told me, give them what they want, not what you want … The show must go on, as hard as it may be. We will show up together, and you will carry me as you’ve carried me for 38 years once again, because I honestly didn’t think I could do it.”
In October, Wynonna announced that she would extend The Judds: The Final Tour into 2023, due to the response from fans.
“I have never felt so overwhelmed by this much love and support!,” Wynonna said at the time. “The emotions that flow while listening to the different generations of fans sing back to me each night has been other-worldly. I am so humbled by every artist that has come to sing with me on this tour. They’ve all managed to bring something so unique to The Judds music and I can say that no two shows are the same. It has been so life-giving!
“The decision to add 15 more shows was a no-brainer for me,” she continued. “The fans have been such a gift during my time of grieving and honoring my mother in song. What an amazing season this is. I look so forward to continuing the celebration of the music that has changed my life forever. In my 39 years of performing, these shows have truly been some of my absolute favorite experiences ever and I look forward to making new memories with the fans and guest artists in 2023.”
