Wynonna Judd is headlining one star-studded concert, and it will all be part of a special airing on CMT next year. The Judds: Love Is Alive — The Final Concert, will take place on Thursday, November 3, at the Murphy Center at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). The show will serve as a recreation of the final date on The Judds’ 1991 Farewell Tour, which also took place at the Murphy Center.
The Judds: Love Is Alive — The Final Concert will include Ashley McBryde, Brandi Carlile, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town and Martina McBride, who are serving as the opening acts for the dates on her current The Judds: The Final Tour.
“Stepping onstage at the Murphy Center for the first time since Dec. 4th, 1991 will be so surreal for me,” Judd shares. “It was an emotional night over 30 years ago and will be an emotional night, for different reasons, now. I can’t wait to lean into the nostalgia with the artists who have made this tour so special, and recreate one of the most iconic nights in Judd ‘Herstory!'”
“It’s serendipitous magic on so many levels to be able to capture Wynonna’s return to the Murphy Center, almost exactly 31 years to the date,” adds Margaret Comeaux, Executive Producer & SVP of Production, Music & Events, CMT. “And it’s especially meaningful as an MTSU alum to produce such a landmark event, working hand in hand with the university’s faculty and staff to have their students actively participate in the production in its entirety.”
Judd recently announced that she would extend The Final Tour into 2023, due to fan demand.
“I have never felt so overwhelmed by this much love and support!,” Wynonna says of the decision. “The emotions that flow while listening to the different generations of fans sing back to me each night has been other-worldly. I am so humbled by every artist that has come to sing with me on this tour. They’ve all managed to bring something so unique to The Judds music and I can say that no two shows are the same. It has been so life-giving!
“The decision to add 15 more shows was a no-brainer for me,” she continues. “The fans have been such a gift during my time of grieving and honoring my mother in song. What an amazing season this is. I look so forward to continuing the celebration of the music that has changed my life forever. In my 39 years of performing, these shows have truly been some of my absolute favorite experiences ever and I look forward to making new memories with the fans and guest artists in 2023.”
Additional special guests will be announced in the near future. A portion of the proceeds will benefit NAMI Tennessee. Tickets are available here. Find more information on all of Judd’s upcoming shows at TheJudds.com.
