Yazoo Brewing is doing its part to help the city of Nashville recover from the deadly tornados that struck the city early in the morning on March 3, which resulted in numerous homes and building destroyed. The Nashville-based company just launched a Tornado Relief Ale, with all of the proceeds going to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s Emergency Response Fund.
“Along with many other local breweries, we donated a portion of sales that week to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee,” Linus Hall, owner of Yazoo Brewing, told the Nashville Scene. “But the best way we know how to help, is to brew beer. That’s where the idea for Tornado Relief Ale came from.”
The Tornado Relief Ale is a German-style Hefeweizen, which was a deliberate decision by Linus, based on both its taste and popularity.
“We wanted something that reminded us of a favorite comfort food — banana nut bread,” Linus explained. “The hefeweizen yeast naturally gives the beer a banana aroma, and the oats and lactose lend a creamy sweetness to the finish.”
The Tornado Relief Ale is available for pick-up, as well as delivery within a 10-mile radius, as well as at select stores throughout Middle Tennessee. More information can be found on Yazoo’s website.
